Freeze It For Them

Freeze It For Alberta

In Alberta, 13,500+ jobs are supported by the production and sale of beer in areas like restaurants, hospitality, tourism, agriculture and retail. Yet 39% of the price of beer in Alberta is tax.

And the taxes keep going up. Prior to the pandemic, average provincial beer taxes were increasing about double the rate of inflation. More increases, especially during this time of economic uncertainty, do not just affect Canadian brewers — they impact everyone connected to beer.

On behalf of the people who make, serve, sell, deliver and enjoy beer in Alberta, we’re asking the government to freeze beer tax increases to protect jobs, support the economic recovery and keep dollars in the pockets of those who need it, now more than ever.
